Located at the Hyatt Regency in Monterey, this year-old tasting room features wines, including Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, from proprietor Steve McIntyre’s Santa Lucia Highlands vineyard. Taste four wines for $10 (waived with purchase of a bottle) or eight, including reserve wines, for $20 (waived with purchase of two bottles).

Holman Ranch Vineyards
Over the years, this 84-year-old Carmel Valley guest ranch has served as a “gentlemen’s retreat” and a getaway for Hollywood celebrities. Recently, it’s been converted to a private residence and winery. At the tasting room in Carmel Valley Village, which opened last November, the tasting fee is $7 (waived with wine purchase of $50 or more) and typically includes six varietals. The tasting room also offers estate-grown and bottled extra virgin olive oil.

Oscar-nominated and Grammy-winning composer Alan Silvestri may be best known for providing the scores to Hollywood blockbusters like “Back to the Future,” “Forrest Gump” and, most recently, Marvel’s “The Avengers,” but the longtime Carmel resident also owns a small production vineyard in the Carmel Valley. At Silvestri’s 6-month-old tasting room, taste five current release wines for $7 or build your own flight of five, including two library wines, for $10 (fees waived with purchase of two bottles or more).

The winery recently relocated its tasting room from Carmel-by-the-Sea to Carmel Valley, where you can sample four of winemaker Annette Hoff-Danzer’s Monterey vineyard-designate wines for $5 or eight wines for $10 (fee applied to purchase of $40 or more).

Duane and Brenda Wolgamott planted their first vines in 1999 when their daughter, Marin, was a child. Today, in addition to entering her third year of studying wine and viticulture at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Marin is also the winemaker for her family’s small-production winery. Taste five of her fruit-forward wines for $5 (waived with purchase) at the winery’s dog-friendly, year-old tasting room in southern Monterey County.
