The Wine Artisans of the Santa Lucia Highlands is an alliance of growers and vintners dedicated to expressing, through their fine wines, the unique character of this rugged and increasingly prominent character appellation of Monterey County. The Santa Lucia Highlands appellation was approved as an American Viticultural Area by the federal government in 1991 and currently has approximately 5,500 acres of vinifera under cultivation.
